Artists Open House 2016

Artists Open House 2016

In my ‘Vernissage’ blog posted a few weeks ago I promised to say a bit more about our Artists Open House exhibition this year. Well, ‘Artists Open House 2016’ is now imminent! In fact it starts on the last Saturday in April, and then every weekend in May. Five weekends all together.

Here is the flyer for this year’s exhibition.

An alien and scary concept!

Even though the idea of opening up the front door of your family home for people to saunter around your domestic space might be alien and scary.

This is exactly what we do….and this is why we do it.

Firstly, we genuinely appreciate your reaction to our work and your generous comments. An open house is an opportunity for us to be more social and personal.

It is important and extremely valuable for us to meet you face to face and that you feel welcome and have an great time. Your first hand feedback really is worth its weight in gold.

Secondly, we hope that you find something that you want to take away with you, or order, or commission, or eat and drink. More than anything we want you to take away the memory of a good enjoyable experience.

Thirdly, at our ‘open house’ we can show you a much wider range of cards and prints than we can stock elsewhere.

So we try to accommodate you with beautiful art-work ranging from humble greeting cards to original paintings, not forgetting prints, photographs, ceramic sculptures and homeware, quirky collectables, plus tea and even cakes!

Suppose you just cannot come!

We have our own 24/7 online gallery here where we sell our prints, that is huge-wool.flywheelsites.com

And our individual websites like www.colinruffell.com and www.shyamaruffell.co.uk/

During the rest of the year we supply our professional partners, the bricks and mortar shops and art galleries. They take over a lot of the hard commercial activity leaving artists to do the creative work.

A good retail gallery will be open most of the time with regular footfall, and have a good data base, but of course they have to pay staff, rent, rates, etc and other ongoing costs.

However, the prices are pretty much the same wherever you find our work.

Our unique ‘Artists Open House’ position is that we are able to reward our loyal and local visitors with more choice, special offers, and individually negotiated payment schemes.

By the way we’ve noticed that some clever customers have cottoned on to the fact that you can pop the hand-signed greetings cards into frames and bingo, you have a very well priced small print …nicely done people! There really is something for every one, even if it is just a cup of tea and a nosey around.

Here are the dates, times, and other details.

We hope to see you there.
